Hyde Park Outdoor Portraits

PLEASE NOTE: this Meetup is slightly more specific than our regulars, so only book a place on this one if you have a real interest in shooting better portraits. The plan I have is also dependant on how many people show up, so please don't book a place unless you are really intending to come.

The idea will be to meet at 2pm under the Statue of Achilles at Hyde Park Corner.

From there I hope to split you into 6 groups of 4 each. The groups will then disperse off into the surrounding area and you will each take turns, within your group, as the subject while the other three direct, shoot and assist with reflectors etc. Within our time together you will rotate roles so you all have a chance to shoot and pose.

I'm aware that this could be uncomfortable for some but I really believe that you won't take great portraits unless you understand what it's like to be the subject of someone's lens and not just the photographer, so I would recommend embracing the discomfort as part of the learning process.

A few of us 'more experienced photographers' will circulate amongst the groups and give you tips on posing, finding and working with good light, and using your settings to get the look you're after.

I will bring some reflectors along but also please bring any of your own which you have as well just to make sure we have enough.

As we lose the light the plan will be to find a coffee shop, warm up and share our experiences in front of, and behind, the lens.
