Sozai is a brand new concept and the first Japanese cooking school in the UK. They are holding an opening press party and Akemi Yokoyama, member of this Meetup group, has managed to get 20 free tickets for the party which starts at 4.30 and finishes at 7.30.
SOZAI means ”household dishes” and “ingredients” in Japanese. Their classes will run for 90 - 120 minutes, with no need to sign up for a course. As well as regular Japanese chefs, SOZAI will be working with celebrity guest chefs – many Michelin starred – such as Nuno Mendes of Viajante, Daisuke Hayashi of Crysan and Anton Edelmann.
Here is the format of the opening party event:
4:30 Doors Open
4:45 Traditional Japanese Live Music (Shamisen & Minyo)
5:15 Fun Sushi Rolling Competition involving Celebrity Chef 6:00 Introduction of SOZAI's COOKING SCHOOL
6:15 Cooking Class demonstration with willing participants
6:45 Traditional Japanese Live Music (Shamisen & Minyo)
Buffet food and refreshments will be available throughout.
This is a free event but there is a £1 charge payable via Paypal to discourage 'random RSVP's'.
Sozai is close to Liverpool Street Station. I will be there from 4.30 to 7pm.
