For the fourth year running the International Wine Challenge (IWC) are running their 'Taste of Gold' event which this year is being held at the Royal Horticultural Halls (NOT at Lords Cricket Ground). This event showcases the high quality of Gold medal winning wines and sake awarded during the competition. For the first time Gold medal-winners can also showcase other IWC medal-winning wines, making this a fantastic opportunity to taste a wider selection of wines.
I have been a judge at IWC since 2002 and know how rigorous the selection process is - of the 11,000 (!) wines submitted about 2% are awarded a Gold Medal so this is a chance to taste the Creme de la Creme. You will also have the chance to meet the five IWC Co-Chaiman including Oz Clarke, Tim Atkin and Charles Metcalfe.
Tickets are normally £20 but I have arranged a special 25% discount for Meetup members so you will only pay £15. You need to pre-book as there are no tickets sales on the door. To book your ticket go to this link and put 'meetup' in the discount voucher field:
Please buy your ticket before you RSVP.
The tasting lasts from 6-9 pm and you can turn up when you want but don't delay if you want to sample lots of these fabulous wines. I will be doing 2 guided wine walks, at 6.30pm and 7.30 pm, so that you can meet other members of the group - more details to follow.
