Most of the best known sparkling wines of the world are made from Chardonnay and Pinot Noir including of course champagne, but have you ever tasted a sparkling wine made from Gruner Veltliner or Falanghina or Moschofilero? Or how about a rose sparkling from Grenache or Cabernet Franc? Then here's your chance!
This is probably one of the more unusual tastings I have organised and it should be a fascinating exploration into the world of 'alternative' sparkling wines! There will be around a dozen different wines including a couple of rose, a couple of reds and the rest white. And the countries will include Austria, Greece, Italy (north and south), Spain and France.
There will be enough wine to give everyone 3/4 bottle per head and plenty of cheeses, pates, bread and other food to mop up the alcohol - after all bubbles make you merry more quickly!
