Allende Rioja Wine and Food Matching Dinner at Vivat Bacchus

Vivat Bacchus are delighted to welcome iconic Rioja producers 'Finca Allende' for a fabulous Wine and Food Matching Dinner at their London Bridge restaurant. With a philosophy of pushing the boundaries 'further' and 'further' to create the perfect Rioja, you can guarantee an evening of wines like no other.

The evening will start off with a Cava reception, before exploring some of Allende's gems, including top wines Calvario (drunk by the Spanish football team toasting their World Cup win) and Martieres, a very special white Rioja - both of which sell for around £70 per bottle retail.

The wines will be accompanied by a fabulous 4 course dinner and Spanish feast with the provisional menu as follows (vegetarian alternatives will be available on request):

Finca Allende was created by Brother and sister team Mercedes and Miguel Angel de Gregorio, and is located in the hill town of Briones in the Rioja Alta. 'Allende' can be roughly translated as 'further'; its philosophy is to go further and further towards creating the perfect Rioja. This has been done by marrying the old and the new, by embracing the traditional grape varieties but then treating them to new French oak. A further distinguishing characteristic, apart from their ripeness and structure, is that Allende's best wines are vineyard-based, with focus on the expression of Rioja's varied terroir.

The wines were not typical Rioja though the last two reds were exceptional and presented with passion by the winemaker. Delicious food and good company.
