Genesis 8.4: And the ark rested in the seventh month, on the seventeenth day of the month, upon the mountains of Ararat. Noah then went on to plant a vineyard, becoming the first documented wine producer, at a date that may be[masked] BC. So it looks as though wine may have been around for some time!
Are those vines I see near the ship?
THE ORIGINS OF WINE TASTING IN BATTERSEA
ONLY £20 A HEAD
A once in a lifetime tasting: This unique tasting explores the origins of wine from what Professor Patrick McGovern calls quaintly 'Neolithic wine', to its modern incarnation, obviously with examples of wines from each country.
The countries visited during the tasting are Georgia, Armenia, Turkey, Lebanon, Greece, Sicily, France, and England, all part of the path of wine's development since the beginning of time! The presentation will go through the history and evolution of wine and winemaking. We will show at least one wine made in 'Kvevri', the traditional wine container of the Caucasus.
The price for this unmissable tasting will be only £20, including the 8 wines, presentation and all equipment needed for the tasting, as well as your genial host (that's me!)
Please feel free to give me a call on[masked] or email [masked] if you want to discuss this further.
Incidentally, I will need a minimum of 14 people to break even on this one, and I will have to cancel it if this number don't sign up.
