December 29 - Edible Plants Identification Walk and Creating Wild Spices Blends

December 29 - Foraging Walk and Creating Wild Spices Blends

We'll meet at the parking lot (see address) and drive from there to a private property.

First we'll start with a small class on local poisonous and dangerous plant. Learning the bad plants is a good way to get into wild edibles and avoid problems from the start (such as touching poison oak). We'll also look at some of the local aromatic plants we'll be using that day

After that class, we will go on a walk looking for local aromatic such a white sage, sagebrush, black sage and more. After the walk, I will show you how to create interesting and unusual (but yummy) spice blends. We'll also sit down and have fun with all kinds of wild aromatics and each student will be able to create his own personal wild spice blend using primitive tools.

We'll meet in the parking lot where the saddlery and liqueur store is located. (exit Wheatland from the 210 Freeway - the parking is on the left side). As a courtesy, maybe you can get your bottle of water from the store.

Thinking about taking my motorycycle. Is the private residence that we will drive to accessible by paved roads? Also, would be okay to park the bike in a safe place at the residence?
