Extreme foraging and tasting.

Sunday August 3:  Extreme foraging and tasting.

This meetup will be interesting and fun

First we had a drought, a few days of rain in March then nothing :(

So we're going extreme foraging!!!!!!!

After meeting at 711 and purchasing a forest adventure pass (I think it's 3 or 5 dollars)

We'll go to a location in the Angeles forest and our goal is to find wild edibles. But this time, everything goes!

We're not just looking for plants, we'll learn about and look for any other source of food (and flavors) - this will include insects, seeds, barks, leaves - whatever can be used and is actually edible. Rocks are good to go too, we'll look for interesting rocks to make plates, mortars, etc...

I'd like to keep it to a small group size to make it more fun. There will not be a lot of walking.

When we're done, we'll taste some forest soda that I've made using ingredients that could be found in that location. Bark soda anyone?

Bring water and wear pants/long sleeved shirt - there is poison oak in the area.

See you there!

We'll meet in front of the local 711

The address is: 11348 Sunburst St, Sylmar, CA, US

Look for a Red Jeep Wrangler or Gray Nissan Xterra

will there be safe shelter close by in the case of lightning storm predicted at the time. could be a dramatic walk, but with caution....?

It took me a long time to coordinate a thunderstorm for an extreme foraging class, it's part of the fun - extreme :)

Meetup didn't ask me to pay. Cash payment on Sunday OK?

    • Pascal B.

Yes, I usually ask for payment with workshops because it requires more preparations.

We just grab a coffee and speak French. Some people have been coming every week for months... it creates a kind of warmth to the group.
