Friday October 26 - Friday's Foraging Walk

Friday October 26 - Friday's Foraging Walk

Every Friday morning, I go on a foraging hike and exploration to gather wild food we'll be using to create various dishes for our weekend classes and workshop. I start the walk with a list of specific edible plants I intend to collect and fellow wild food hunters are welcome to join me.

That day, I want to collect a bunch of curly dock and other wild greens. I suggest you bring water, sunscreen, a foraging bag, as well as a gardening knife or pocket knife to harvest the plants.

Please wear sensible hiking shoes and long sleeves and pants as there may be poison oak along the trails.  This is a great way to learn about the seasonality of wild food and what’s available for beginners and advanced foragers.

Time: 10 A.M. (Walk is around 2hrs)
Donation: $10.00

We meet at the south end of the park. See the map:

very informative! It seems you can't walk ten yards without passing an edible plant. Now I know where to find watercress, one of my favorite foods.

    hi pascal,
i may be able to come with my 3 (almost 4) year old. he is the reason i signed up for this group. he is truly obsessed with plants and flowers and fruits and seeds. approx how much ground do you cover in that two hour period? i am wondering if it will be too much for him. also, we may be able to come as a family on sunday but do the kids have to pay too (they are three and five). if so, it becomes really cost prohibitive for us. thanks, abigail

I usually do kids half price. Every hike is a bit different so I don't know how much ground we cover in 2 hrs but I think it's less than a mile for sure.

I'm bringing a friend, who hikes slow because of a back problem. Hoping the pace will be casual!

We just grab a coffee and speak French. Some people have been coming every week for months... it creates a kind of warmth to the group.
