I'm part of the Hollywood Orchard. We harvest neighborhood trees and prepare and/or preserve the fruit. I'd love to learn self-reliance.
Pascal is very knowledgeable on his subject, and is good at passing it on to others . We were a good group of 10 or 12 people, half of them seemed to have some experience with plants, and to be knowing each others and the other half was new. Easy interaction between everyone. People arrived in time and we started our walk. We soon had discovered 15 different edible plants growing in the Bronson Canyon area, from black mustard to mugwort. Mia, expert wild edible plants cook would share with us which plant to eat raw, which ones to blanch. Pascal warned us for the poisonous plants often growing next to the edible ones, a form of protection plan between plants. The gourmet tasting after the walk was just fantastic. The gooseberry salsa was a highlight!
