The Lotus Palm Thai-Yoga Massage meetup group is here to encourage people who are interested in the Thai-Yoga massage experience and what it can bring to their lives.

Physically giving and receiving Thai-Yoga massage has a calming effect on the nervous system. It helps relieve muscle tension, increase flexibility, lowers blood pressure, etc. And yes, that is both giving and receiving the massage!

Looking at Thai-Yoga massage from a deeper perspective, it originates from a place within the therapist we like to call metta, or a place of love, love for humankind, and our natural world. Each massage treatment is (carried out) with this mindful approach that each massage treatment is carried out. This is why I feel it can bring just as much to the therapist as it does to the client.

As with yoga, sometimes we begin to practice to be able to wow our friends with cool moves and the ability to somehow defy gravity, or even because our doctor told us it might help ease tension. However, somewhere along the way as we begin to learn how to breathe, as we begin to learn how to move within our bodies, there is a movement to a different place. Sometimes noticed, sometimes un-noticed, but it’s there.

Thai-Yoga Massage integrates the two perspectives of yoga and massage that have existed for thousands of years, and marries them with an eloquent grace.

The beauty of the Lotus Palm Centre comes not only from being the hub for the Montreal Thai-Yoga community but a place of learning as well as a place of healing.

In this spirit, meetups will be organized throughout the year, for various workshops, open houses, classes, and other community events.
