I agree with Maja in that a more focused discussion based around a set of pre-agreed talking points would have allowed us to use our time more efficiently. However, it was great to meet everyone and to learn about the different styles of group management. No one way works for everyone, but it's a learning experience to see what works for each group and why.

A really good discussion on how to make the most of MeetUp as an organizer.

It was good to meet other organisers and share ideas and tips. It was a bit unstructured, I think we should set a firmer agenda for future meetups. It was good because it prompted me to write to my event organisers and because it confirmed that the concept that I am trying to introduce to my group can be sucssessful because others are already practicing it. Thanks for organising!

Nice to be invited along and I hope some of the thoughts I shared from the London Jazz Meetup were helpful. Everyone seemed nice.

    Another item for discussion:

Fostering a virtual community through technology:
    1) Start an email newsletter. Profile co-members,
    especially for accomplishments.
    2) Set up a chat capability and create forums based on topics the group wants, either work or socialising
    3) Refer to member blogs
    4) Use PowerPoint presentations of members, their motivations and personal interests

Members can / should produce these as aids for others to relate to them and their activities.

    Enjoy !

    Hi Bernie,

Thought I'd leave this link on leadership qualities, possible discussion points for the group.

    http://www.n2growth.com/blog/

Two key questions attendees might like to ask:

    1) How do they attract a bigger membership?
    2) How to delegate support for a bigger group?

The first asks how "attractive" the group is, who it appeals to, how well it is presented?

The second suggests recruiting help, from within the group or from outside.

    Do MO's wish to pursue?

    Enjoy!
