Just had a look at the photos? Would it have been better to arrange the seating round table or in a horse shoe?

Great to meet and network with other organizers, hear about what meetup is up to and discuss topics around growing our groups and fostering engagement.

Inspiring, friendly, good people and great ideas.

I got several good ideas, learned about the motivations of other organizers and learned more about analysing the motivations of people joining meetups in order to try to make them more relevant to them.

Would have been great to have more people. The people that came certainly made valuable contributions and made this a very special event. There is a very good energy here to build on for Bar Camp no 3.

Well, I include a disclaimer on the description of the event but I was not sure if that's enough. Do u have insurance for the martial arts? How much does it cost? Where to get it from?

    April 12, 2012

  • Jazz R.

    Re: insurance,

If you arrange any event where there is likelihood of physical, emotional or financial distress, and you are running the event in an enclosed private space or guided tour, you will have liability. I train people in martial arts and if someone gets injured while I'm training them, even if they are walking, I could be liable if they were under instruction or guidance at the time. To avoid, ensure people sign disclaimers absolving you of any accident.

Another topic I would like to discus is insurance. Should we have one? What's best to get? Has anyone had that sort of bad experience with their members?

    Thanks Kat, Andrew

On Saturday I'll be discussing how to promote your group, welcome & keep members interests, enthusiasm, attendance & referrals. 2 of the many tips to be discussed

--If you run different groups I'll show how you can get lists of common members. ---When many of your members belong to a meetup group independent of yours it might be worthwhile to do a joint event to cross-populate your groups. Eg Members of Hiking and New in Town groups. More on Saturday!

I echo Kat's suggestion. How to promote group, welcome & keep member's interest, enthusiasm, attendance & referrals.

I would love to find out a bit more about promoting and growing the group. I guess you can never get enough of that...

    Hi Jazz
I'd like to be a case study please

    April 1, 2012

Can demonstrate my new 'Member Matching Service' that shows
-Which members have interests in common
    -What those common interests are.
-How matched they are to the Meetup group's interests
-% of groups members a member has interests in common with
-% of groups members at the next event a member has interests in common with
-Which members were most active in the real world by attending the most real world meetings

..and much much more. Submit your meetup to be one of 5 case studies.
