For those near northern VA Saturday January 10 there is a talk on "How Statistics are misunderstood in the media and society". Speaker is Rebecca Goldin of the Statistical Assessment Service and is sponsored by the National Capital Area Skeptics. Talk is at 1:30pm and is in room 110 at the National Science Foundation, 4201 Wilson Blvd, Arlington VA. (Room is right next to the guard's desk when you enter the building.)
NSF is one block from the Ballston metro station. Parking costs $1 at the Ballston Common Mall across the street. For more information check the NCAS website at ncas.org.
We get together to discuss various topics in science and skepticism. Anything from recent science news to rants about the latest paranormal or pseudoscience scams. We are also considering some field trips to local museums and events. Everyone is welcome.
