Joey Pouch Knitting Crafternoons (and beginner knitting workshops)

Hundreds of marsupial joeys come into the care of Wildlife Victoria's volunteers every year. All joeys, including possums, wombats, wallabies, koalas, and kangaroos, need to be kept warm and quiet, but while Wildlife Victoria's volunteer carers put in so much time and love when caring for these precious creatures, most don’t have time to knit or sew the pouches that they require for the little ones in care.

Luckily we've got the knitting skills so we can do it for them :) Let's meet up once a month to make pouches to keep our little joeys safe and warm. Meet at Grumpy's Green at 2pm on the third Sunday of the month. Bring 5ply or 8ply wool and size 8 needles if you can. There will be spare wool and needles so don't stress if you don't have any.

Beginners are most welcome to come along and learn to knit.

For more information on joey pouches and the pattern for the pouches check out the Wildlife Victoria website here:

Grumpy's Green are an eco-friendly bar, so a great place to make stuff for our local wildlife. You can check out more info about them here:

Their address is 125 Smith St Fitzroy, and it is easily accessible via bicycle or the 86 tram. There's usually a bit of parking around for your car, but a lot of it has parking meters.

No problem at all Agnes! I love teaching people to knit and always have spare knitting needles and wool for you to use on the day and take home to keep going.
