3D Doctor Who 50th Anniversary screening

After looking and looking for a suitable venue for this event and then seeing that lots of cinemas are offering screenings on that Sunday I think it's best to go to a cinema and see it on 3D than my previous private screening option.

In my research I found out that some places wanted us to buy the licence to screen Doctor Who, others needed us to be an "official community" group or if not pay $600 for the venue and the place I had in mind, Shebeen, doesn't have the most comfortable chairs...

So if you are still keen to come buy your tickets and we can have a discussion after the episode at the cinema nova lounge or some other place.

If you don't want to come to the movie but would like to come to the discussion, please mention it on the comments so I can find a suitable venue that fits all.

FYI, seats are going fast so buy your tickets soon!!

RE: brunch. Would love to, but coming by public transport and will take 2 hours, so will never make it!
Looking forward to some awesome Dr Who time in the cinema. I'll bring my 30 year old Dr Who book if I can find it :)
Anyone else remember coming home from school and watching the Goodies and Dr Who (and at some stage, Danger Mouse, oh and Banana Man, and... what was the proton pill guy and his rangers?)

That's right, Kenny Everett, Benny Hill, and of course Monkey. Also, Super Ted.

Hated Super Ted. When did the ABC run Benny Hill? In retrospect Kenny Everett was pretty sexist, but I probably liked it because he talked on the toilet. And Hot Gossip were pretty funky.

Didn't realise I was still down as going, tried to book tickets ages ago but they'd sold out. I'm seeing it in Frankston instead :( Have fun though.

Looks like I'll be going to the 11:25am session, so I guess I'd be joining you for the discussion afterwards a little later.

What film exactly is being shown? Is it one of the Dr Who movies from the 60s?

Hi James, No they are showing the 50th anniversary special in 3D. It's a new special episode.

Well, I guess I'm on my own at the 9am sess (eye roll). I'm booked in Cinema 4 at E7, for what it's worth. If you guys are meeting after the 11am, let me know where and I'll see if I can call in and chat. Cheers Tess

A bit too disorganised to make a booking for the 11am session in time so I've opted for the 9am session in Cinema 4. Anyone else game? Cheers Tess

    Booked - E21 here at the 11am session :)

I agree with Marissa! The idea of the priv screening was because I didn't think they'd put the epi on cinema or at least that fast!!
Shall we say Nova @ 11 then? I'll change the details any people can buy tickets and post seat no.

I am not sure if you get notified of changes on the event description but I think you do when i comment so LATEST NEWS:
instead of the private screening (which was not working out as planned...) we are going to the Cinema Nova 3D session at 11am that Sunday. Then we can have a discussion/review on a nice place along Lygon st (looking for places now)

Book your tickets asap as they are running out fast and if you don't want to come to the cinema you can come to the discussion later on...

I just looked online for Cinema Nova; $25 per ticket (being in 3D) + $1; tickets are starting to sell so not sure how the private venues are going; there are starting to sell at Cinema Nova.

Village have screenings at the below with no sessions time available yet:
Geelong, Jam Factory, Karingal, Knox, Rivoli, Southland Hoyts have 4pm screenings at the below cinema
    Frankston, Highpoint, Northland, Victoria Gardens

    • Marissa

I'm all for Cinema Nova @ 11:00am :D You can choose seats and there are a couple full rows available. I think it was a great idea to organise a private screening - thanks for looking into it Maria! - but this would be a better, cinema experience :)

      October 16, 2013

  • Felicity (.

Did you guys see Cinema Nova has screenings on the Sunday if we can't find a venue. Little more than 2.50 though!
