The books chosen for 13 March are:

    Sci-Fi: Ringworld by Larry Niven
Fantasy: The Sheepfarmer's Daughter (book 1 of The Deed of Paksanarian) by Elizabeth Moon
Urban Fantasy: The Ocean at the End of The Lane by Neil Gaiman

By default, it is highly recommended that all members read Storm Front (book 1 of The Dresden Files) by Jim Butcher... As it is AWESOME and many people in the Sci-Fi meet up group have read his books! I could be a bit biased though!!!!! ;-). It is not one of the books chosen for March.

Haha, yes, the Dresden Files are lots of fun! Thanks for posting the books for march - hope I can make it this time =)

Great book discussion. Bit hard choosing the best books for next time, but all good in the end. Best comment "Kitty and the Sheepfarmer's Daughter"... A play on two book titles. Very, very hot though! I'll post the books for 13 March shortly.

Hi lovely people. I am going to bail on you all tonight. I have been in a training session all day that combined with this weather means I wouldn't be worthwhile company this evening. A shame as I was looking forward to talking books. See you all again soon.

Sorry guys, not going to able to make this one. I have another event on close to this time and it's just not possible to do them both on public transport. Would like to suggest Quantum Thief by Hannu Rajaniemi for the next read though. Especially now the sequel's out (reading Fractal Prince at the moment ;).
See you all at the next do.

Thanks TJ. Have fun at your other event and I appreciate the suggestion. I'll make sure it gets mentioned on Thursday.

Unfortunately I have a few things I need to do tonight... which sucks, but it must be done!

    • Nigel

Yep - same problem though, unfortunately! I'll explain next meet up

      1 · January 15, 2014

    • Julianne

No problems. Let me know if you have any comments you want to pass on about White Tiger. Send me a message on FB or put something on good reads.

Have the next books been chosen? Where do I find future months books?

    January 15, 2014

    • Julianne

The books get chosen at the meeting for the next month. I put a copy of the chosen books on this months meet-up, and then create the next meet-up, and put it on that as well as our goodreads group.

I am sorry but I won't be able to come on thursday. I live a bit away from town and public transport is crazy at the moment.. So i have no clue how I would get home after the meeting :( Sad..was looking forward to discussing the books and most of all "Mystic and Rider" with you.

Hope to see you all at the next meeting though. Have a good evening :)

Hi Sarah. Feel free to put something up on our good reads page about Mystic and Rider. We can add your feedback into the meeting in Thursday. I'll post the new books on here when once they've been chosen. We look forward to seeing you next time when it isn't quite so HOT! ;-)

Hey, I am really happy that I found your group! Would love to come to your meetings and will try to read at least two of the books - not so sure about the urban fantasy book yet, maybe I will look for an excerpt first. Can't wait to see you all! Sarah

Going to try to make this one... since I'm reading White Tiger at the moment. Have to admit I'm struggling with it though!

    2 · December 6, 2013

    • Julianne

It's a bit different to Dresden! I think it warms up as you get further into it. Like the concept and love the fact that it's an Australian Author!

    • Gen

I'm reading this one ATM too, and rather enjoying it. What in particular are you struggling with, N-dot?

      December 9, 2013

  • Ash

Will read at least one book.. As am keen to get involved with the book group.. My tastes are fantastical..

Hi, I have not been to any book reviews yet, is the practice to read all 3 books?

    November 17, 2013

    • Julianne

Hi Vee, as Michael said, ideally we would like you to read at least one book. Though the more books everyone reads, the greater the discussion. Hope you can make it!

      November 17, 2013

    • Vee A.

OK thanks guys, 2312 is the only one I can find at my local libraries so I will be reading that one :)

      November 18, 2013

  • Terry H.

Sorry, I'll be in the US, but I'll definitely read the books.

    November 18, 2013

    • Julianne

      Hi Terry
If you feel like putting some comments on good reads you can. Enjoy the US.
