S1: Book Review Group - July 2014

Hi all

The books selected for 10 July are:

Fantasy: The Princess Bride by William Goldman.  https://www.goodreads.com/book/s...

Urban Fantasy: Fly by Night by Fances Hardinge.  https://www.goodreads.com/book/s...

Science Fiction: The Left Hand of Darkness by Ursula K Le Guin. https://www.goodreads.com/book/s...

If you would like to join us on our good reads group, where you can put future book suggestions, and read some information about our upcoming books, please visit us at: http://www.goodreads.com/group/show/109091-melbourne-sci--fi-fantasy-meet-up-book-review-group

As discussed at the last meeting, a limit of 20 people will be placed on this event.  I have also added a waitlist, for those that want to come but exceed the limit.  We fit 1bout 15-16 around the table for food.  If you are unable to attend at the last minute, please change your RSVP to a No, so other people can then attend.  We will trial this and see how it works.

The group starts at 7pm.  We normally order dinner at this time, and they deliver it part way through the meeting.  Ordering food is not compulsory, however, if you wish to order some dinner, meals will normally cost between $16 - $30.

I have also booked the back room for the remainder of the year for our meet ups.  Please pencil these dates in your diary.  I won't actually set up the next meet up until the books have been chosen.

Still hacking up a lung and sneezing up... a sinus cavity? Figure it's best if I quarantine tonight, rather than spread the cooties. Hope y'all have a blast! Also, whoever suggested The Left Hand of Darkness ROCKS MY WORLD. Best novel I've read in aaaaaaaaaages!

Hi lovely people. I am going to be rude and pull out of the event last minute..... I didn't get past the first 50 pages of any of the books. I had a particularly strong reaction the the first 30 pages of the Princess Bride which Mikey will fill you in on. See you all again soon. :)

Thanks for setting this up! Are you guys still open to suggestions on the location? I was thinking the Duke of Wellington on Flinders (or the Spotted Mallard/Post Office hotel) would be more accessible by public transport, especially for those of us coming from the outer suburbs. Thanks!

Hi TJ, thanks for the suggestions. We're currently booked in to this venue for rest of 2014, however it is something that could be discussed/considered for later on.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
