S2: The Midsummer Faerie Rade

From the website:

Come join in the splendour and revelry of the grand procession of Faerie Folk.

Led by the Faerie Queen and Faerie King, the Rade will be a delightful cornucopia of goblins, imps, sprites, dark fae, elementals and fantasy creatures. Bring your finest garb, streamers and flags, bubbles and bells, flutes and fancies. The more the merrier!

BYO picnic

Meet in the Treasury Gardens
Spring St, Melbourne

Our procession of faerie folk
will proceed through the heart of the city
2 - 3pm

A secret location in the Botanic Gardens
(off St Kilda Rd)
3 - 5pm

* A Costume
* A Fancy (a little faerie gift)
* Bubble Blowers
* Bells
* Friends and Family
* A Picnic Luncheon

Our Faerie Rade will be a jubilant parade of magnificently costumed folk who will be giving gifts, playing music with jingling bells and trailing bubbles in the air.

This is a family friendly gathering open to everyone who loves to dress up and participate in creating beauty, whimsy and fun.

The only requirements are that you attend in costume and support the spirit of gift-giving, good will, joyous merriment and rampant creativity.

A Fancy is an idea, a thought, a snippet of wisdom or inspiration, or positive emotion embodied in a small gift to be given to stranger or left for someone to find.

The value in giving is the positive energy that is created. Joy can be manifested, and is most easily harvested when it is shared. Therefore the strongest and most worthy gift is a gift of thought, of energy.

    I loved this event, thank you all for your costumes effort. Next year I will come in full costume. The kids that were with me and my sis in law from Osaka, loved it too. It was magic.

    We'll be there rain or shine at the spot Donna suggested. I will be in turquoise (dress, wig and umbrella) with strampunk wings and my husband is a lilac wizard with pointy hat, staff and of course his giant black beard :-) (we should be really easy to spot ;-) )

    I like the idea of meeting up before hand, if that's possible (I'm not sure I've met anyone going to this met up yet...). costume wise I'm planing on going as a goblin. I'll be wearing a Black leather top hat and carrying a small bird cage with a pixie in it.....(providing I can get everything done in time...)

    We could meet up around 1pm (altho my attendance is weather-dependent - no boiling heat or rain!) ... looking at google maps, at the corner of Spring St and Treasury Place there's a triangular-shaped lawn behind a statue of some dude - let's meet under the big ?oak/?fig tree near there that fronts onto Spring St. We can join the main group at 1.30pm. Failing that, if I'm there I'll be in cream and brown with long blonde hair and (if the creation cooperates!), antlers :)

    I haven't been to one of these before. Are we going to meet up as a group and join in on the parade?
