Cheers & Ciao
For years in Europe we have been experiencing a "fight" to determine the best prosciutto, Italian or Spanish? What if the Australian one is actually better!! This is the night to try all of them and have a prosciutto based main on top.
At 6pm we begin with Italian prosecco on arrival, then taste your way through a starter, a main, based on prosciutto, and 4 tastings of wine:
- Starter : 4 Prosciutto (S.Daniele and Parma from Italy, Jamon Serrano from Spain, local Australian Prosciutto). Together you will have two white wine tastings of Verdicchio dei Castelli (Iesi/Italy) and Arneis (Victoria), most probably the best Italian variety grown in Victoria
- Main : Fusilli with Italian prosciutto and crescenza cheese, served with Parmesan and pepper, one of the Italian spring dish favourites. Together you will have two red wine tastings of Chianti Poggiobasso 2008 (the winemake Stefano Chioccioli is one of the top enologists in Italy) and the Sicilian Nero D'avola from the Morganti family, wine makers for the last 5 generations.
A full explanation of the Prosciutto making and differences between Italian and Spanish prosciutto will be given. An Italian Somellier will drive and explain the four wine varities
This is a cozy, friendly and social night where the main goal is to have fun while trying Mediterranean products, meeting new friends and have a talk along the night
Night price: $65 (a deposit of $25 is required on booking). Link below
