Mixing salty and sweet food? Mixing cheese and fruit? Beetroot in the rice? Is it something possible? Yes it is and the result is just great. Is it Modern Italian Cuisine, or maybe Traditional Italian Cuisine? It does not really matter, what it matters is the end result, a super tasty night.
Two of the most successful white wines (Soave and Pinot Gris french style) will go with the starter. For the reds we will explore the Montalcino area in Tuscany, arguably one of the best wine areas in the world. A fantastic Rosso (Red) from Talenti and an incredible, not to be missed, Brunello di Montalcino Banfi 2005, an incredible wine we have to open 3 hours before to let it breathe. A unique experience.
At 6:30pm we begin with an Italian prosecco on arrival, then taste your way through a starter, a main, and 4 generous tastings of wine:
- Starter : Cheese & fruit platter including
- Pecorino cheese & Pear
- Truffle Sottocenere cheese & oven-dried apple with cinnamon
- Parmesan cheese & honey
- Testun Barolo cheese (a gem aged in Barolo wine barrels over 4 months) & wine grapes
Together you will have two wine tastings of Organic Soave Pieropan from Verona/Italy and french style Pinot Gris Nazaaray from Mornington Peninsula.
- Main : Gorgonzola and beetroot risotto, a lovely and delicious dish from Lombardy, in the north of Italy, a unique taste not to be missed. Together you will have two red wine tastings from Montalcino, Tuscany. A Rosso Pian di Conte and a Brunello di Montalcino Banfi 2005.
A full explanation of the cheeses and the wine areas will be given by an Italian Sommelier.
