Good team work and challenging monster hunts! I can't wait to enter the dungeon! When are we going to meet up again?

As much as I love Oracles, I have to admit that I'm avoiding certain powers that are just too much. I agree with you on the semi-broken.

At higher levels most of those powers are fine. But take the ability to see through smoke/fog/whatever. No magic or ability in core rulebook can match that. Makes for a ludicrously powerful build just by adding anything with sneak attack.

So I got bored and compared the classes to determine which ones are truly broken and which can be reasonable if restricted to core rulebook feats. Truly broken are... Magus, inquisitor, and ninja. Some classes can be broken and have specific rules that need to be needed by the gm under most conditions. Semi broken are... Witch, alchemist, and oracle. Note that these are definitely not broken classes, they just have one or two broken abilities. If those abilities are not taken at lowest possible lvl they are fine. Classes that are reasonably equivalent to core are... Summoner, gunslinger, cavalier, and samurai. I welcome your feedback on this one.

Hey Lucas, welcome! :) What type of character do you want to play? We're currently level seven, if that matters.:-)

Sure no problem. Favored class would be sorcerer so first five lvls get either +1 hit point or skill point per level. This in in addition to the extra skill point per level a human naturally gets. You must have draconian as a language and five ranks in knowledge arcana. This takes you to lvl 5. Then you add the two lvls of dragon disciple. Make sure you mark spells as a lvl 6 sorcerer.

Check your feats, skills, and equipment list and you are good to go. If you have any questions please ask.

Mage armor? Lasts quite awhile at these levels.

In the end, it is your choice of course. I always found the question to be short term vs permanent solutions and stackability. The short term is going to be significantly cheaper and, as John said, will last quite awhile at these levels. The downside is that you lose one round of combat in activating the mage armor. Still, that is often not a major concern when compared to the 8 to 10 thousand gold you could save

But you can cast mage armor on others, yes? Unlike shield?

Lucas, so you know. The base stat build is at the top under more/files. 20 point system. Enjoy!

Dean's the boss, but he's generally asked that new characters come from the core rulebook only. Everyone's currently level seven and we have a good variety in the party.
