A visit to the "Witch's House" has been rite of passage for Milwaukeans for the over 60 years -- especially northshore teens on first dates. :) A recent Journal news story reported that the house and it's collection of large gargoyle statues in the front yard overlooking Lake Michigan will be moved from it's location on Beach Drive in Fox Point to a new location later this summer. Since it is so close to our Saturday long run route, it is fitting that we do a run along the beach of Lake Michigan to see the Witch's House at dusk. Hopefully it will be a cool foggy evening!
The run will start at Doctor's Park and proceed along the beach for 2.5 miles. This will be a trail type run. The beach is firm along the shore but there are occasional obstacles -- drift wood, flotsam, jetsam, small streams, rock piles, and breakwater walls -- that we'll have to navigate. Nothing tough if you've ever done a 50k with Arun.
The 2.5 mile run back to Doctor's Park will be along Lake Drive. After, if there is interest, we can go out for pizza at the Calderone Club and tell stories of teenage rites of passage from our own home towns.
