Celebrating the Birthday of Murshid S.A.M.,*

founder of the Dances of Universal Peace


When: Tuesday, October 18, 5:30 – 9:30 p.m.

Where: We have moved! Our new house is  

4005 Garfield Avenue South, MPLS 55409.


Potato soup and bread will be provided; please bring a potluck item if you would like. 




5:30 – 7:00 – Arrive, eat, talk together and see the house

7:00 – Dances of Universal Peace. Three of Murshid Sam’s original Dances led by Hakim

8:00 – 8:30 – Cake

8:30 – 9:15 – A performance by Vaudeville Mouse (John Hakim, Karima, Garek Nureddin and Elizabeth). Everything from French and Irish music to four-part harmonies and electric blues! Acoustic and electric guitar, acoustic bass, ukelele, fiddle and more.


RSVP please, so we can plan for food and chairs.


It’s a ‘house welcoming’, but not a house warming. No presents, just your presence. 


*Murshid S.A.M.’s name was Samuel L. Lewis, and his Sufi name was Sufi Ahmed Murad. He was popularly known as “Murshid Sam”. (Murshid means “teacher.)
