Celebrate Thanksgivukkah and kick off your Holiday Season at December's Cut & Cook!

Experience the joy of opening your heart by helping cook a dinner together for a great cause: Residents of the men’s emergency shelter in Rockville run by the Montgomery County Coalition for the Homeless.  The guys there really appreciate our home-cooked meals!

-- Chef Curley of Curley's BBQ has graciously agreed to let us use his well-equipped, spacious kitchen for December's meetup!

He suggests we mapquest or Google the location to make sure we know how to get there. I can forward a phone number to you in a separate email so you'll have that as well.

--  All ranges of culinary abilities are welcome…from professionals to “all I know how to cook is toast, and I usually burn it!”

--  We ask everyone to buy some of the ingredients and count on eveyone coming on the day of the event so we can cook the entire meal.  Please RSVP yes if you know you can commit.

--  If you'd like to contribute but can't make it to the event, you can chip in to purchase supplies and ingredients by donating via PayPal to [masked].

    Yay!!! I am doing the happy dance. Our Dec. 1 event was great--good food, good people, good deeds. Although virtually everyone was new to our Meet-up, all rolled up their sleeves and stepped right in. And many, many thanks to Chef Curley for his guidance and humor to shepherd us through our tasks. We couldn't do this without the helping hands of many, and the payoff is tenfold.

    Today was again an excellent cooking event. Dropped the food off way ahead of schedule and got amazing cooking tips from Chef Curley!

    Harma and Everybody, I am very sorry I did not appear today with the 11 lbs. of noodles. I do not drive, and there was no way for me to get out to you using public transportation. Hope you were able to make something that didn't involve my pasta. Sorry again.

    Hi Everyone,

    Some exciting news, hot off the press! From now on students of Montgomery County public schools who volunteer at MoCo can earn SSL credits!

    I uploaded a pdf file with the instructions. The name of the file is HBCAC Meal Guidelines and Credit guidelines.pdf. Follow the link in the pdf to form 560-51.pdf and fill out the top part. When we bring the food to the shelter, students can ask for a receipt, which needs to be send to the shelter along with the form. Our cooking events should be good for 6 SSL hours, as we are cooking for 80 people. See you all on Sunday!
