Spike Jonze's Her at the Moolah

First Monday movie! Her is playing at the Moolah Theatre & Lounge on Monday, January 13th. The movie starts at 7:00pm; I'll be there by 6:30pm to get tickets and hopefully meet some of you. :)

Note that there is a free parking garage directly behind the theater: Directions and Parking Information.

From Landmark: Set in Los Angeles, slightly in the future, Her follows Theodore Twombly (Joaquin Phoenix, The Master), a complex, soulful man who makes his living writing touching, personal letters for other people. Heartbroken after the end of a long relationship, he becomes intrigued with a new, advanced operating system, which promises to be an intuitive entity in its own right, individual to each user. Upon initiating it, he is delighted to meet "Samantha," a bright, female voice (Scarlett Johansson) who is insightful, sensitive and surprisingly funny. As her needs and desires grow, in tandem with his own, their friendship deepens into an eventual love for each other. From the unique perspective of Oscar-nominated filmmaker Spike Jonze (Being John Malkovich, Where the Wild Things Are, Adaptation) comes an original love story that explores the evolving nature—and the risks—of intimacy in the modern world. Also starring Amy Adams, Rooney Mara and Olivia Wilde.

I don't know about you guys but when my GPS started talking to me on the way home, for a second I expected it to say something more profound than "turn right, then keep right". :P It was so nice to meet you guys & loved the movie. Thank you for coming out!

I don't know what I was expecting with this film, other than a twist on the usual RomCom, but I was pleasantly surprised. It was a very enjoyable film.

I would like to get together with the group to discuss the movie. Maybe meetup on a weekend earlier in the day. Just a thought. This meetup was a great idea.

I only left the RSVPs at 20 while I'm trying to get a feel for attendance / seating. It's a public theater though so do feel free to come join us. :)
