Announcing a new Meetup for The Monterey Bay Area Hiking Group!

What: Tuesday Evening Hike: Toro Park Redux (~4.5 Miles, ~900 Feet)

When: Tuesday, August 17,[masked]:15 PM

Price: $1.00 per person

Where: Toro Park
Hwy 68 and Portola Road
Salinas, CA 93908

Another outing at Toro Park for this week's Tuesday evening hike! Although this one will be a little longer and bit steeper. Toro Park is located along the Monterey-Salinas highway (CA Hwy 68) and is approximately 13 miles east of the Monterey Peninsula and 6 miles west of downtown Salinas. The park's 4,756 acres is home for many types of wildlife including deer, coyote, and the rare mountain lion or golden eagle. Administered by the Monterey County regional park jurisdiction, Toro Park's pastoral setting makes it the ideal place for an evening, after-work hike. Let's get out there and see yet another side of this beautiful place.

Toro Park
501 Monterey-Salinas Highway (Hwy 68)
Salinas, CA 93908

We will meet just outside the park's main entrance at the foot of Portola Drive just off of Hwy 68. There are places to park your vehicle for free and we won't have to worry about hiking back out after park closing at 8 p.m.

Our route will be approximately 4.5 miles with about 900 feet of elevation gain. Toro Park is a hilly location and the only flat areas we will encounter are between the parking area and the main entrance. We will climb up the East Ridge Trail towards the Toyon Trail junction atop East Ridge before heading back Toyon Ridge to the stables & parking area.
