the Savory Cafe in Takoma Park (On Carroll Ave.) regularly welcomes small groups.  For example, on Tuesdays, you have the French Conversation group upstairs, our group playing bridge and the kitting group going strong downstairs.

Is Lightroom the Adobe product? I had heard mixed reviews/comments,

(As you requested, below is a copy of the email you just sent.)

John Barnes sent you this message from The Montgomery County
Photography Meetup Group on Meetup.com:

----------------------------------------------------------------
I am willing to scout around for places to meet. I am retired
and in a stable financial situation and may be able to devote
some time to this kind of thing. I think we ought to be able to
find space at a library, a rec center, a community room in an
apartment complex, etc.

I have access to a rental photo studio where we could possibly
do some workshops if people were willing to pay a nominal ($10
or $20) participation fee. In fact I think that we could get a
free meetup there as a promotional gesture from the proprietor.

I also have a suggestion or two for places to do field trips.
I'll offer them up after I review what you folks have already
done.

I am working on a location for the Lightroom tutorial. The
level of ignorance about this kind of software (Iam grouping it
with Aperture and Extensis Portfolio for this discussion) is
appalling. What do you suggest as the best time? Staurday,
Sunday, weekday evening?
