Hike to the Eagles

Join us on a hike from Durham lock to the towpath adjacent to the Eagle's nest on Lynn island. The rules say we can't go to the island to see the eagles but we can try to view them from the towpath. Our environmental educator will be along to provide information on eagles as well as the history of the park. Pictures are possible but you'll need a good zoom lense for clear shots. Good shoes recommended and registration requested. approximately 5 miles.

While the eagles didn't make a showing at our hike I saw one this morning by the nest. Sorry our eagle was shy for the program.

Hi Sarah thanks for the check on conditions & timely update I don't own spikes so think I'll pass on this one today. Seems that it won't exactly be fun fighting to stay upright, been doing that all winter :( but it will warm eventually looking forward to future hikes in better conditions thanks again & I'll see ya next time

Checked conditions this morning and I agree, 5 miles will be difficult. Please be aware that there is about 3 inches of ice under what will be slush this afternoon. Even in 40 degree weather this will not change. I don't want to scare anyone off but please know your fitness level and guage this hike appropriately.
    Thank you,
    Sarah

Sorry to cancel last minute but I am concerned about conditions on towpath. Did a hike today in the icy slush and I'm just not thinking I want to do 5 miles of that tomorrow.

Sounds like a great event, but I'm already booked up getting ready for the Leprechaun Hunt,Dinner,Movie and songs by the Player piano....trying to keep things neat with those "Little People" playing games on me can always be fun. See you next event. CaroleLokanMoore[masked] any time you need a Free location that serves Free Refreshments to our group, just let me know. weather is looking good so far for this program, forecasts say it should be around 40 degrees with the day prior being almost 50 degrees. I'm hoping these temperatures will melt most of the snow on the towpath making the hike easier. Either way waterproof boots are recommended for the best experience.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
