Austin reached 108 degrees yesterday at about 2:45; San Antonio got there at about 3:30. According to NWS.

I am starting to think we should postpone until late Fall or Winter or Spring. We were at Flat rock today and my Garmin indicated 100 degrees. Today is the first time my 3 liter camelback gets empty on a ride. If I was not carrying the extra bottle I might have been in trouble. Weather for Saturday indicates temperature from 102 to 104. If its not rain, its the heat. It reached a 100 around noon today at Flat Rock.

Jen, Can I meet you somewhere to carpool?

      June 26, 2013

  • Enrique

Update rsvp's. Sign up. We lost two and gained one. More can sign up and maybe more carpooling. We meet at VIA BUS park & Ride at San Pedro and loop 410 at 7:15am. Start traveling at 7:30.

Moved you to 'not attending' Oscar. Just fyi.

    June 26, 2013

  • Enrique

Ok, Oscar will be busy. Greg I can give you a ride. Marc has a passenger. Edward you and Jen decide what vehicle you will go in. Looks like each of us can only carry one extra.

I have a bike rack that can carry 2 bikes. I might be able to fit one inside if the wheels are taken off and maybe one on top but I don't know how to tie one up there. I have a little suburban assault vehicle. If I drive I-10 and 281 would be easier for me. I was thinking of bring a water jug and ice cooler, so I can eat healthy :p Also are we going to go into the water or something? A trip like this should be a packed with fun.

    June 26, 2013

    • Enrique

I-10 and 281 do not intersect.

9:00 is the time we try to be at the park. We can meet at a carpool location at 7:15. There is a VIA BUS park & Ride at San Pedro and loop 410. Is that a better start location? I think Macy's is right behind it.
We can eat burritos at Chipotle Grill, I guess. Bring towels just in case so we can sit on in the car or to dry ourselves.

I think you should add "(Carpooling)" to the title of the meetup, so more people will join. You're right about there being just 1 place where everyone shows up to carpool, to see who really shows up and see who fits in what vehicles. Also its not clear if we meet at the carpool location or the park at 9.

Looked up the Chil'antro truck that you mentioned. It has a schedule and is located at different locations on different days. Looks like they have three trucks operating. Problem I see is that they open at 9:15 in the evening and run to 3:00am

Marc you need to bring more water for this trail. Those two bottle might not be enough.

    June 26, 2013

  • Enrique

I'm just asking because maybe you could carry Jen and Greg. Greg wants to carpool.

    June 26, 2013

  • Enrique

Don't remember but Edward you have a bike rack don't you?

    June 26, 2013

  • Enrique

I can only take one person because both of the bikes will have to go inside the vehicle. I do not have a bike rack. Oscar I can give you a ride. Marc may be giving a ride to someone from what I understand from yesterdays conversation. Edward you can ride with Jen. Would the VIA BUS Park & Ride at 410 & I-10 be good for everyone?

On the way back home we may decide to take a look at purgatory creek trails in San Marcos.

Enrique, what level ride do you plan to make this? There are all level of trails at this park.

    June 9, 2013

    • Enrique

I was thinking I should label it intermediate. It has probably been a year and a half since I rode here so I will be figuring out the trail as I go. I want the ride to be about 3 hours. I will look for the map.

A lot of easy section and rough sections just blend in my mind right now.

      June 9, 2013

  • Marc C.

I can put one bike inside the back of my Outback...or maybe I'll have enough to buy a second rack for the roof. Will look into that. I think we bring extra clothes and jump into Town Lake or some body of water. I don't get up to Austin that much so would love to stay for some grub. I heard that Korean food truck Chi'Lantro is tasty.

Usually there is no plan afterward. I used to belong to some meet ups in Austin so I would go to some. I also used to belong to Golds gym so I could use their showers. Not a member of the gym any more so I stay sweaty until I get back to san Antonio. We can't do much if we are all sweaty and smelly. We can go eat burritos at Chipotle Grill. Sit in their patio.

okay people...there are only 21 spots left: ya betta hurry up. On another note, since we're going so far to ride what's the after ride plan? Grub? Wine tasting? Paddle-boating? And what about carpooling? Anyone down? So many questions...
