McAllister Park (Beginner) Slower Pace

Let's Ride McAllister!! The ride will be roughly 8-12 miles long and about 1.5-2 Hrs. This is a beginner ride so our pace will be slow. Make sure you bring water and helmet. There will mainly dirt trails with a few paved trails, you are welcomed to get off your bike and walk any parts of the trail that may be intimidating. We will meet at the pavilion located by the parking lot on the left when you enter the park at Jones-Maltsberger. Look for a black mountain bike....just ask if you have any questions!

I deleted my other comment because I did not want to attract the attention of the mountain bike gremlins. They like to take bikes apart and eat them. Watch out for them.

A gremlin is a mythological mischievous creature.

It was a nice, brisk pace through some narrow trails. I enjoyed it.

Muddy, yeah, but still a blast. Already washed the bike and ready to do it again. Only four riders, but nobody gave up.

No problem with a hybrid...it'll be fine

Will a hybrid cut it? My other bike is down for repairs. Newbie here.

I've not ridden McAllister, but I've seen very few trails around San Antonio where a hybrid would be a problem on a slow ride. Tire width may be a minor issue in the mud, but you should be fine.

At least we haven't gotten any more rain since yesterday afternoon...

The ride is on gentlemen....not sure what kind of trails we'll encounter so be prepared.

    Is this thing cancelled tonight?

    July 17, 2013

  • Oscar

Well, At this point we're on unless we get considerable rain tonight and tomorrow. At that point we'll have to cancel and ride another day.

If you'll be there, I will. Otherwise, I'll do the Medina ride or just ride solo. I need to get out either way.

Making a huge assumption that the ride was cancelled. Mud doesn't bother me though.

    July 16, 2013

  • Oscar

I'll stop by the park this afternoon to see how wet it is...may have to cancel this event.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.

Henry, started Reno Motorcycle Riders
