Night Ride McAllister Park (Mountain Bike) [Intermediate]

  • McAllister Park

13102 Jones Maltsberger Rd, San Antonio, TX (map)

    29.560965 -98.459602

  • Look for the dark green mountain bike. I will be next to the playground.
  • We are going to mountain bike at McAllister park. We will ride about 6 to 11 miles.  We are  doing the trails immediately around and inside the park.  It should be about 1.5 to 2hours of riding. Our pace will be about 8 to 12 mph.

This is the night ride. If you are not familiar with this park, if you have not been riding with us, if you are a novice, then today may not be the ride to start.  If you feel confident in your abilities and about riding in the dark and you want to try it out then join us.  We will have stops to let everyone catch up and stay together.  Wear a helmet.   Bring a bike light.

    Here is the usual message:
There are smooth parts and rocky parts and any part that makes you uncomfortable you can walk though it. Make sure you have water, sun block, and wear a helmet. When we ride we will have some rest stops along the way to let everyone catch their breath. I will only be there only if there are people who RSVP "YES" by the RSVP deadline.

The meetup location is the first parking lot on the left after entering from Jones Maltsberger. I will be next to the playground. Look for the dark green mountain bike. I will probably be wearing black shorts and a blue shirt. See you at the park.

    Rain will Cancel this Event.

The deadline to rsvp "Yes" for this meetup is the day before the meetup.

We usually give McAllister a week to dry after any rain. I can imagine a whole bunch of areas that are flooded and then there will be the areas of sticky mud that grab onto your wheels and slow you down. I am afraid that it might end up becoming a frustrating ride instead of fun. We will stick to the "give McAllister a week to dry rule".

Dropping out ...last time I rode in mud was too much of a pain since I moved to an apt.

Trail conditions this morning from some fellow riders are that its flodded in a couple areas but not very bad they did say they had to go around some spots. So its up to you Enrique if you want to continue with the ride

Radar show that the rain passed over McAllister. Eddy you will have to give me some report about conditions. Sun is supposed to come out today but temperatures are going to start dropping so it might not dry enough. Most likely will be cancelled but we wait for Eddy's thumbs up or thumbs down.
