Salado Creek (Mountain Bike) [Beginner]

  • Phil Hardberger Park

13203 Blanco Road , San Antonio, TX (map)

    29.561943 -98.519164

  • Look for the dark green mountain bike.
  • We are mountain biking the Salado Creek Greenway. I expect it will take about 50 minutes to go out and then another 50 to come back. We will be there about 2 hours.  Parking can be difficult at this park sometimes.  Plan on arriving early.

We will begin at the parking lot of Phil Hardberger park.

We will ride at about 6 to 10 mph.

Here is some of my usual stuff:

There are smooth parts and rocky parts and any part that makes you uncomfortable you can walk though it. Make sure you have water, sun block, and wear a helmet. We will be riding for about 2 hours. When we ride we will have some rest stops along the way to let everyone catch their breath. I will only be there only if there are people who RSVP "YES" by the RSVP deadline. The deadline to rsvp is the day before the meetup.

    Rain cancels this event.

I will probably be wearing black shorts and a blue shirt. Look for the dark green mountain bike. I will sit on top of the stone tables that are in the center "island" area where the cars drive around. Probably I will be reading a book also. See you at the park.

Good call Enrique. Current weather radar shows quite a bit of rain clouds over all of SA. Thanks for the updates!

Well at least where I am at the raindrops are coming off the roof with more frequency. I expect the rocks at the park to be too wet and slippery. Going to cancel. Time is 8:45am

I think I should move it to McAlister. Salado is a lot rockier and I prefer to we avoid wet rocks.

I am not sure what to do. I keep hearing rain drops, probably from the trees and the roofs edge, but the ground looks mostly dry. The pavement is wet.

My concern is wet slippery rocks. We can move this to McAllister. It is mostly all dirt there. Any comments?
