Non-Stop -- Leon Creek -- Intermediate Speed (Mountain Bike) 12 to 14 Miles

We will begin at the Mainland Trailhead just off of Bandera Road and then follow the Leon Creek Greenway. We will try to do this non-stop.  Instead of a stop to rest we will slow down to about 5 mph and coast for about 3 minutes. We will keep riding. We will stop for accidents, flat tires or other mechanical problems, or if your energy is low and you absolutely have to eat something. As we ride If there is any kind of problem or need something then the rider can shout it out.  We will adjust.

Our speed will range from about 8 to 12 mph

This ride will be on mostly dirt trails and some paved areas.  We will ride for about 2 hours.  We will meet by the shelter.

The Usual Stuff:

As with any park we mountain bike there are smooth parts and rocky parts and any part that makes you uncomfortable you can walk though it. Make sure you have water, sun block, and wear a helmet.  If you need to rest then shout out to the group to slow the speed down for a few minutes or to stop.  I will only be there if there are people who RSVP "YES" by the RSVP deadline.

Meet at:

We are meeting at the Mainland Trailhead parking lot. It is next to the WalMart and behind the apartment complex on Bandera road.
Look for the dark green mountain bike. I will probably be wearing black shorts and a blue shirt. See you there.

Rain cancels this event.

The deadline to rsvp "Yes" for this meetup is 1 days before the ride.

*** Make sure your camelback is full of water since there is no plan to take detours for water fountains. Hopefully no flat tires or mechanical problems but if they happen make sure you bring repair supplies for your needs. Protect your head with a helmet. Bring a snack if your energy runs low.

Very good ride. Enjoyed it. The wrist was almost normal. I just had to keep it straight. No problems. We avoided a few loose rocky areas and I walked a few other sections because I did not need to flip over the bike a second time this week. We went out at about 10 mph and came back at about 13 mph. Maximum speed was 23 mph probably on the downhill. Rest break number 1 was in 38 minutes and the second break was on the hour. 12 miles today. Good to see everyone.
