The (Official) NYC Brown University Meetup Message Board › Flashmob event on Saturday - City Hall
New York, NY
Here's a fun activity for Saturday that would be perfect for families! Could you distribute this to any listservs you have? It's part of a performance for my friend Carl. (see below)
Spend a couple of hours with the kids, making maps as part of a flashmob! The flashmob starts at 10:30 and will last for about 2 hours.
Bring a notebook or paper and a pen and some sort of measuring tool (a measuring tape, a map, a piece of string, an astrolabe, a compass, a sextant, a spyglass, anything you can think of), a sense of fun, and some article of green clothing. And don't forget to brings friends!
Odyssey Works NYC is a performance art group that creates a 24 hour long performance for a single audience member. The cast of characters includes people from the participant's life; the set is all of New York City. Our audience member wakes up in the morning to a new, strange life. As the day goes on, he moves deeper and deeper into the narrative. We'd like you to be part of it.
Our audience member, Carl, is going to be taken on an exploration in mapping. In City Hall Park, Carl encounters many fellow mappers, frantically mapping themselves, the city, emotions, colors and movement. If you would like to be a part of this performance plan on joining us for a couple of hours starting at 10:30am on Saturday, June 23rd at the concrete lectern in City Hall Park in Manhattan (you'll find it - by the fountain.) Bring a notebook and a pen and some sort of measuring tool (a measuring tape, a map, a piece of string, an astrolabe, a compass, a sextant, a spyglass, anything you can think of), a sense of fun, and some article of green clothing. This performance is called The Map is not the Territory, and we'll be creating a mapping mob for our participant to happen upon. We hope to fill the little park, so bring friends.
