Brooklyn Botanic Garden is a 52-acre living museum where beauty, romance, and fun blossom among world-class plant collections and specialty gardens. Admired as an urban horticultural and botanical resource, BBG inspires visitors to discover that plants are essential to life. We'll stroll around the gardens and take a break at the Terrace cafe.
The Japanese Hill-and-Pond Garden is one of the oldest and most visited Japanese-inspired gardens outside Japan. It presents a condensed idealization of nature: trees and shrubs, carefully dwarfed and shaped by cloud-pruning, are surrounded by hills, a pond, and forest-sized trees.
Admission to the BBG is free on Saturdays until noon. If rain is expected, we won't go, and I'll reschedule for another day.
