The Evolution of Irrationality: Insights from Primates

Free lecture with cash bar!

To get a seat, you'll need to arrive at AMNH no later than 6:30. The actual lecture usually starts at around 7:00pm and goes until 8:00pm, then there is Q&A. There is a cash bar at the event.

The event is free. Tickets are not required - registration is not required.

Hundreds of people attend this public event, sponsored by AMNH. Seating is very limited (maybe 100 seats?) and we will probably not be sitting together. How to find me: I will be standing on the right-hand side, toward the front of the auditorium. After the lecture, we'll head out as a group for a bite to eat or a drink.

SciCafe: The Evolution of Irrationality: Insights from Primates

Yale University comparative psychologist Laurie Santos explores the roots of human irrationality by watching the way our primate relatives make decisions. Recent experiments in "monkeynomics" demonstrate that monkeys make some of the same silly financial choices we do. But there are also ways in which humans are uniquely irrational—and sometimes monkeys make smarter choices.
