Rhinebeck Grand National Meet 2013

Come along for a leisurely ride up 9D to Rhinebeck and a day spent wandering around fields and buildings full of old great motorcycle stuff in this huge motorcycle and antique equipment show...

Last year we set a meetup in the city and a second meetup along the way at the Mobile Station on the Rt 6 traffic circle in Peekskill (look for the junction of 6, 9 and 202 on googlemaps) for people that couldn't easily get into Manhattan. That worked pretty well for everybody so we'll do it again.

The Plan (Yes! We have a plan!):

We leave the Shell Station in the city as close to 9am as possible. Take the Saw Mill to Exit 25 and follow Rt. 100 to 9 and 9A to Peekskill. We should get to the Mobile station around 10am and will leave by 10:30am. That gives people a comfortable 30 minute window to meet at a convenient point along the way. Depending on what direction you're coming from you can easily find the Mobil station from either the Taconic or the Bear Mountain Bridge.

Great ride, guys and gals! I'm exhausted! The ride back was a tough one, but the side trip to East Mountain Road and RT 301 was definitely worth it.

A bit belated, but after reading the raving reviews on East Mountain Road, I hit it up on the way back into the city yesterday. I would call the dirt part "skills building". ;)

Hah! What about the twisties? For additional skills building, follow the dirt road for another couple miles.

Going to try my best to meet at the Peekskill Mobil. I'll be on my Speedmaster but have to ask (as this would be my first ride with this group), should my wife like to join, would her Spyder be an issue?

She says she will probably pass on this, making the point moot, but I think you might find some resistance to chopping up her new toy :-) Maybe I can get my son to come along on the Sprint.

Looking at the date on this, it looks like I and a few others will be in Canada during this ride. For all the others, don't miss it! Great fun will be had at the wall-of-death!

I believe i'll make this ride. I just need to clear my calendar. Is there really a lot there where a chase vehicle to haul purchases back is a good idea?

Also, anyone for a side trip to the Aerodrome? Maybe a biplane ride?

This was a great time last year. Be sure to bring a couple grand and a trailer, cause you will absolutely want to buy an old bike (or part of one) and bring it back to wrench on. The crazy vendors are one of the best parts of this event. Well, that and the Wall of Death.
