Still here... cold and wet outside. Had dinner with Matt last night. Stef came up in the rain and we all did the vendor expos. Waiting for the sun to shine tomorrow and riding home warm and dry.

Thumbs up to Steph! It took us a little less than 6 hours to get back home, we stop twice plus once more for lunch. It didn't stop raining a second the whole way. It also rained all night here in queens, very heavy at times. I think early afternoon you guys should be fine, it is still in the lower 60's down here. Kisses to Jo.

  • Frenchy

Ok for BBQ, at what time do we need to be there? Give me the address. Thanks.

    June 5, 2013

  • Dave

Frenchy I simply can not do a departure from Queens at 9am tomorrow. I might end up going up alone (Jo will follow the next day) and leaving Manhattan between 11 and 12 and/or have to stop at Harriman to swap out the Guzzi for the Bonnie on the way. I'll seek you out up there Tuesday night but will try not to interupt you while you're bowling. ;o)

    June 3, 2013

    • Frenchy

No problem, I understand. You have my cellphone, call me when you get there. We'll catch up with Jo when we'll get back from the ride Wednesday.

  • Frenchy

Good morning David! They opened (Americade) yesterday so you are going to have access to everything before the main crowd arrives. That will also be a chance for you to see where everything is. 2 friends and I will be staying at the Holiday Inn (where you will get your registration and package). I got you guys to take the full week package, so even if you are early on us you can do for free tons of stuff/events included in the package (there is also an opening ceremony). Look up the detail program they'll give you at registration. Plan? There IS a plan! I hope you guys will survive this organized event ;)

I know, it sucks, that's why we are arriving Tuesday. In 3 years I never spent more than 2 minutes on line at the registration.

Because Dave is right and it is indeed about FUN....
Here are 'Ten Ways to Enjoy Americade":
Don't Worry About the Weather: Americade occurs in the first full week of June. Its location is Lake George, NY in the Adirondack Mountains. That means the weather is totally unpredictable. Just the week before, it rained every day. The week we went, rain was predicted. We had rain on one day at lunch and dinner and both times we were inside. Some of our friends took a day trip to Vermont and had to ride through rain. Some years it's cold. Some years it's hot. You just bring clothes for both conditions and forget about it.

    May 10, 2013

    • Frenchy

Hang Out on Canada Street: Many park their bikes on Canada Street and just hang out talking bikes to anyone who'll listen. The traffic builds throughout the week with the loudest, densest traffic on Saturday night when the town's young people seem to appear in force. The police are usually present to keep things calm but sometimes things get out of hand with a few burnouts and disagreements. It's all very exciting but noisy. I enjoy the scene but others hate it. Often the rescue vehicles appear because of accidents.

      May 10, 2013

    • Frenchy

Take a Ride Somewhere: The area around Lake George is beautiful. The roads all seem to lead to special lakes and mountains that are even more beautiful. Many riders forego the guided tours and just head out in small groups of two to six to enjoy the ride. I've been on group rides with Motorcycles Forum friends as we headed up to Lake Placid, NY. We even had a member with a GPS but we still managed to get lost -- that's a good thing when you're out riding looking for adventure. So, take one long ride away from town.

Ok guys, here are the two "meetup" locations, Dave please update when you'll get a chance.
1st location will be my house in Queens:[masked]th Place, Queens (Glendale). Departure time 9:00AM.
2nd location will be 4221 Broadway, New York. In front of The red Deli and Produce store. https://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&tab=wl
This is the corner of Broadway and West 179th Street.
At the link provided above (google map) you can actually see the deli as well as a 360 view of the corner between 179th street and Broadway.
If you can't find the place maybe you should reconsider riding a bike ;)
I would suggest departure at 9:45AM.
Let me know if you have any question and best regards from your dear French friend and his organizational OCD.

I've decided I may want to stop every 26 miles and only put $1.85 of gas in the tank each time. Not trying to be difficult, I just don't want to stress myself or anything.

Thursday Night: Comedy Club Back by very popular demand, Alonzo Bodden's shows will surely sell out. Winner of NBC's Last Comic Standing, and nationally known for his appearances on NBC's Tonight Show, Late Night with Conan O'Brien, and numerous other T.V. appearances, Alonzo is an avid motorcyclist who is very, very funny, and really relates to motorcyclists.
His 2011 & 2012 Americade shows had the crowds roaring with laughter, and received standing ovations. Each year, Alonzo's show is brand new, features a lot of motorcycle humor, and every year Americaders demand that we bring him back again, and again.
This is an amazing show at any price! [His tickets sometimes sell for $75 each!]
Tip: Choose the "Dinner & Comedy Show" option, and you'll receive a discount, you'll enjoy an amazing dinner, and will get VIP seating at the show.
