A described in a recent NY Times article, the American Anthropological Association caused a stir by dropping the word “science” from its long-range plan. Is anthropology really not a field of scientific inquiry or is this just a case of social activism?

In our next meetup we will discuss anthropology and whether it, and perhaps other disciplines are a science. We will also explore what role activism plays in science.

Remember, seating is limited, so rsvp soon!

Refresh your memory of the case of Carlos Castaneda (http://en.wikipedia.o....

If Castaneda's was allowed to receive a PhD without an uproar from the profession, Anthropology ceased being a science that day.
