  • Let's talk about one of the outcomes of a previous meet-up where J.R. presented on Open Source Software and using Ubuntu. I missed the discussion, however, was fortunate to catch up on the outcome of the discussion - an afternoon of installing Ubuntu on donated PCs to give away to those who didn't have access to technology. The project has evolved since my introduction to it. We now have two New Haven organizations focused on serving children that are working with us to install two labs, six computers each, with Open Source software.

We are learning how students use Open Source software to complete home work, exploring the possibility of after school education with the labs, and etc.

Please let me know if you have any questions and I'll update as the project is actively developing.

I may be able to help. Anything that meets these requirements should be good: http://ow.ly/5fe3g

That is a great question that I do not yet know the full answer to. We will being doing some of what is found here: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/ComputerLab Not all of it though, I think things for us can be more simple.

If workshop space is desired to perform the overhauls, installation of software and testing, I am willing to host a meetup at CT Hackerspace for that purpose. There is plenty of space and I am very happy to help the cause. Just let me know! -Jeff
