One of the basic qualities most important in others is honesty and trustworthiness. They are both the foundation of any successful relationship. He should be a participant rather than an observer of life. Staying fit and healthy should also be a priority. He should be self-confident, not pompous. Because laughter is so important for overall health and well-being, a warm smile and a good sense of humor is a plus. His cup should always be half full because everything that we go through in this life, good or bad, is a lesson. What we take away from that lessons shapes the core of who we are. I am looking for a new best friend and see where the relationship takes us. Hopefully, it will grow into something deeper.
I am very family oriented and my children are such a blessing in my life. Now that they are both happily married in loving relationships, I am ready to find someone to share my life with. I enjoy the simple things in life and don't consider myself high-maintenance. I am very deeply spiritual, but not religious. Organized religion is not a part of my life. I can laugh at myself when the occassion arises. Politically I am rather conservative in my views as I have pretty traditional values. I am not into drama because it takes way too much energy. I have a very positive outlook on life because negativity will suck the life out of you. I stay fit because I want to be able to leave this life, not in a rocking chair, but on the back of a Harley yelling, "Whoa, what a ride!"
I love live theater, museums, art galleries, reading, live music (jazz, pop, oldies, country, classic rock), festivals, hiking, biking, watching the sunset over Lake Pontchatrain with a nice bottle of wine, and walks in the park. Movies are OK, but I am not much of a television fan. My new passion is travel, both here and abroad. I have started traveling internationally and have been to both Italy and France. I am already thinking about where I want to go next year. I like organizing events, but also love spontaneity and doing things on the spur of the moment. I started a wine club among a group of friends and we meet at one another's homes to share dinner or appetizers paired with wine. It has been a fun experience. The most important thing in life is sharing time with those we care for.
I guess number one would be smoking because I have no tolerance for it (sorry but smoking is a no-go). I am not looking for players because I am looking for a stable relationship with one person. I also cannot deal with someone who is not truthful because there will be no foundation for the relationship.
I think a first date should be simple. Meeting for coffee or lunch seems to work because it is usually long enough of an introduction to see if both people are interested in pursuing the relationship.
Hi! I'm Debbie and have lived in New Orleans most of my life. I am looking forward to meeting new friends in this group.
