Are there any requirements to become a member of this group?

There are two easy requirements that MUST be met, in order to become a member,
or to remain a member of The New York City Filmmakers Group:

YOU MUST POST A PICTURE OF YOURSELF &

YOU MUST COMPLETELY FILL OUT YOUR MEMBER PROFILE.


Why is it a Group Requirement to post a photo of ourselves and fill out the Member Profile?

From our experience in the past, people who don't post a photo of themselves and fill out their Member Profile, usually never become productive members. Posting a photo of yourself and filling out your Member Profile, is the start of a healthy professional relationship with your fellow group members. Plus, it will help you immensely in your ability to expand your network of connections within our group.


Why is this Group "by approval only"?

The truth is, Meetup has made it very simple with a little click, for anyone to join just about any group they wish. In most groups, that has resulted in many people who join and don't post a photo or fill out their member profile.

To avoid that, our group is by approval only. This effectively weeds out those without the time, energy or discipline, to participate in our group. And since our group is specifically designed to be SOCIAL and ACTIVE in the filmmaking process, having all our members with a photo posted and a profile filled out, makes our group very user friendly and successful.


What's this group about?

The name of the group says it all. It's all in our name. The New York City Filmmakers Group. Our group is about meeting other people who are currently, or will shortly be working on a film. Our group is all about connecting with, and the genuine inspiration you receive, from meeting new people who share your desire to make a great film. We are a very diverse group of people from all areas of the film industry.

Why be a Private Group?

As a Private Group, only the members of our group, can see any of the content within. This affords all our members a comfort zone of privacy and trust to post their picture, as well as write about themselves. As such, any member who demonstrates any lack of respect for the boundaries of another member, or violates the privacy of another member, will be INSTANTLY REMOVED from our group and then reported to Meetup.com. As will any member who posts or e-mail's spam of any variety. Check first. THERE WILL BE NO SECOND CHANCES!


Can I advertise my services?

As a member of this group, you will be able to list your projects and make announcements and advertise your services, AFTER you get approval from the Group's Organizer or an Assistant. If you want to add a link to your website on your Member Profile, place the link in the Link section, NOT anywhere else. And if you have commercial services to offer, include a brief and modest statement in the Additional Information section of your Member Profile.
If you have any doubts, Check First and Get Approval.


What if I can't come to an event?

A simple comment like: "Sorry guys, have a prior commitment" following a "no" RSVP, is courteous and thoughtful.
