Coffee Tasting with Plowshares Coffee Roasters

We're excited to announce our first coffee tasting meetup!  The head roaster and owner of Plowshares Coffee Roasters will be joining us for a fun coffee tasting with three of his favorite roasts.

Our good friends at General Assembly (http://generalassemb.ly) have generously offerred to host us in their amazing space, just above Union Square.

FORMAT

We'll be tasting three different coffees from Plowshares Coffee Roasters.  Baristas will be on hand to brew each roast to perfection.  We'll brew one roast at a time and every attendee will receive about four ounces of each coffee to taste and discuss.  Mugs will be provided.

LIMITED SPACES AVAILABLE

We're limiting capacity to keep the group small enough that we can all interact and chat with the roaster as we taste coffees.  We're opening up 20 initial spots for this meetup.  More spaces may open up as we determine demand and our capacity.

WHY DO I NEED TO PAY $5?

We're charging a $5 entry fee to cover some of the costs of running this meetup, including purchasing brewing equipment and paying baristas.  The $5 includes three samples of coffee brewed by our baristas.  We're providing everything you'll need, including mugs.  All you need to bring is a pen and paper if you want to take down any tasting notes.

Anthony was very friendly and took the time to really explain the whole experience.
He put people at ease (so did Michael). The coffee tasting was great fun and very interesting - learned a lot about coffee and i thought i knew quite a bit. The coffee was very good - i bought the Guatemalan beans.

It was a really intresting event. The fact that there are so many levels to coffee was amazing and the hosts did a great job! The only thing I think would make it better is if we had a baseline cofee each time (regular starbucks or maxwell house) to start with and compare to the special blends.

Since I usually doctor up my coffee with cream and sugar I had to learn to refine my palate a bit. Not bad!
