Now that the weather's getting a bit milder (at least the past few days) and we're heading into fall, we've secured some space and speakers!

This upcoming meetup is going to feature Nick Finamore of Altera discussing how OpenCL can be use with FPGAs to accelerate certain workloads.

I've posted the slides from this meetup on the group's file uploads page.

Thanks again to everyone for coming and making this a great, successful night!

Great talk but I think I knew this stuff already from the web and other talks. Hopefully they can post the slides and get a discussion going here on how Meetup members can use OpenCL. Maybe we too can be part of the intro users? Not sure why it is kept under wraps.

Reasonable presentation from Altera, though I would like to see more implementation details. The issue with having vendors present seems to be that they tend towards marketing rather than demonstrating. The technology itself seems useful, though the development overhead is quite high.

I'm surprised by the level of growth I've seen since becoming an organizer, it's given me more confidence in my abilities.
