1) You will need to install Quartus II Web Edition for Windows or Linux. This is the software used to compile a program for the FPGA. You can get it at this link: https://www.altera.co...­

2) You will also need to install Altera's Modelsim Starter Edition. This is a free version of the software used to simulate the FPGA. You can download it from here: https://www.altera.co...­

3) You will need to download the sample project from here: https://github.com/dg...­

If you are using Windows, you can get the latest version, service pack 2.

If you are using Ubuntu Linux, please read through the README at this address for help getting the Altera tools working: https://github.com/dg...­

If everyone could have the software downloaded before the 11/12/2012 Meetup would be fantastic, as it will give us more time to learn about the language and tools! Of course, we'll be able to help you get your setup up and running if you have trouble with one of the steps.
