Most of the people who join this group seem to have some form of plant growing somewhere. Their green venue may be as simple as a tiny window box, but can also range up to elaborate roofdecks that contain virtual suburban flower gardens. Even serious farms. We have several Master Gardeners, a few members who are focused on growing food, some architects, some professional designers, and a wide assortment of general urban dwellers who like the idea of green things surviving in the city. You can learn a lot at our meetups if you find the right person to ask, and this isn't hard because leader, Peter Watson, has a good idea about the makeup of the membership base.
For another description of the joys and trials of roofgardening, see our Home page. That original blurb has attracted everyone who has subsequently joined. Recently, our attendance numbers seem to have mushroomed, possibly a function of weather and location. We're spread over the city and you will get to see some nice outdoor spaces and share conversation, and occasionally seeds or plantings, with other New Yorkers who enjoy chlorophyll as well as the pleasures of city life.
