Afternoon Meetup at Arlene Stimmel's, Brooklyn Hgts, Sunday Oct 3, from 2-4 pm

A Sunday afternoon in early autumn is a great time to see Arlene Stimmel's deck on Atlantic Avenue in Brooklyn Heights. If you're traveling by subway, lots of choices--2,3,4,5,R to Borough Hall. Very close to Manhattan, in fact just across the water. If you're driving, it's easy to park (Sunday, no need to feed meters!). She has a nice selection of variegated plants and trees and a comfortable, large, elegant and pretty deck. If you like, you can bring over food for yourself (or to share) from the Middle Eastern restaurants across the street (exceptional falafel) and you'll be in a thoroughly great place. Her coniferous trees are especially nice, with high grasses and houseplants that will eventually have to be put inside over the winter. Craning your head out, I think you can see the East River and Staten Island, and later, walk and see the beautiful houses on Henry and Pierrepont, or head to nearby Brooklyn Promenade to view the Manhattan skyline. the entire experience will land you in an interesting and scenic part of the city. So come and join us. Bring her cellphone number, which is[masked], or mine, which is[masked]-7821. Visit this url for a googlemap:

Sorry I couldn't make it -- soccer season for the girls and two classes this fall are killing my schedule! Hope to make the next one before the weather gets cold!

Wonderful garden and informative guests! I learned a lot and got some cuttings to get started for my garden next spring.

Arlene's deck makes you feel like grabbing a chair and a newspaper and hanging out enjoying nature. She has an exceptional number of plants in bloom, laid out in a way that shows off the different heights, textures and colors. It's a garden, but you have the additional enjoyment of being on a Brooklyn rooftop, and the building next door has a kind of mysterious, archeological quality.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
