IS IT SPRINGTIME YET??
We have a lot in store for this season and we’d like to share a few things with everyone:
First and most important:!
Our own Meetup Co-organizer, Leslie Adatto is putting the finishing touches on her first book titled “Roof Explorer’s Guide: 101 New York City Rooftops.” (cue cheers – YEA!!)
Leslie has spent the past 2 years researching all manner of greenroofs, rooftop gardens, rooftop bars, and anything “Green” or Garden on a rooftop in NYC. She has traveled all of the boroughs in search of Rooftop green spaces. The book will be out sometime in the next few months and we will advise everyone of its publication. Its chock-full of information on great rooftop public spaces, secret gardens, watering holes and has beautiful color photographs of most sites. It can be used as a checklist of places to visit and also for out of town guests.
Second and almost as monumental:
Please join us for the FIRST official 2014 Garden meetup event.
Finally – we can get back to being outside!!
Newest member Susan L has volunteered to host on her 650+ square foot terrace. She has views of the North, South and East and you can even see Yankee Stadium.
The Terrace is planted with nine planters containing a Japanese maple, a butterfly bush, a holly bush, skimmia, hydrangea, hostas, spirea, honeysuckle, wisteria, sedum, climbing roses.
As this is early in the season, we don’t know how much will be in bloom, BUT, what a better way to spend time with your fellow garden enthusiasts and put a cold winter behind us.
Come on up to Susan’s and meet some of your fellow enthusiasts (you meet the nicest people in a garden meetup group!)
We can also use this kickoff event to have a seedling exchange (a lot of my stuff did not come back.. – how’d everyone else do?)
Some info: For new members, we charge a small fee so that people will commit to the event (I’m happy to explain more fully if anyone is interested).
Snacks and drinks are welcome and Susan offered to host for most of the day.
See you then!
