Well- Things are bustin out allover! For one thing, the Wisteria that I planted 8 years ago is finally going to bloom! And I am so psyched!

Lots of perennials coming up- Rose Campion, many different Sedums, the Japanese maples are either budding or leafing out, False Baptisia, seeds of which I "relocated" from a wonderful garden in Washington DC, Dumbarton Oaks, are almost blooming, a bright yellow Bleeding Heart with amazing shocking pink flowers, Toad Lilies, Black Elderberry...

However- it's supposed to do down to 37 degrees tomorrow night, so cover up anything tender,or bring it inside-

I have a Rose of Sharon I want to give away, any takers ,post to me.

Hurrah for Spring!

Subject: [roofdeck] How is your rooftop, patio, planter Garden going???

Hi All,
I hope everyone is gearing up for garden season. The last seed exchange made me excited to get started and it always motivates me when I hear about what other people are doing in their gardens so I thought I’d share what’s going on – on my rooftop.
I setup the greenhouse on March 31 and it is currently almost full with:
12 tomato plants – grape, Rutgers, better boy
6 pepper plants – red, orange, jalepeno
Greens: Mesclun, Micro, Pak Choy, Arugala, Butter lettuce, mustard greens, broccoli rabe
Assorted flowers: Gomphrena, lavender, wildflower mix (gotta get bee’s up there)
Beans: Haricot Vert
Watermellon: Golden Midget (Mini 3 lb’ers )
Aunt Molly’s Ground Cherries
Eggplant: AppleGreen variety

On 3/31/13 I planted 150 trays of seeds, most of which are sprouting. I think I will have too many (is that possible?) and will likely give some away.
Here is what I’m growing inside and will be moved to greenhouse asap:
Chili Peppers: Ghost, Scorpion, Birds Eye, ornamental
Watermellon: sugar baby
Cantelope: french
Eggplant: Black Beauty, Japanese, Turkish Round, Striped Toga,
Herbs: Cilantro, Basil, oregano, lemon basil
Tomatillo
Tomato: Yellow, super 100’s, yellow pear, Patio princess, Early Treat
Cukes: Mideastern, Kirby, Tiny Mexican Sour Gherkin (look em up )
Flowers: nasturtium, Johnny jump-ups, gomphrena

Share with the group what you are doing....

I hope this motivates you all. I better get a bigger roof…..
